Joyland was Priemered in Berlin on 3rd and in Munich on 10th December.

To Ban or Not to ban. That had been the question. If you follow Pakistani news regularly, you may have seen a movie riddled with controversy called Joyland. The film got banned due to objectionable content and then got unbanned and released in Pakistani cinemas. We believe all stories need to be told and have faith in the audience to decide for themselves.

The movie has gotten international acclaim with Cannes Film Festival standing ovation and first contender to be an Oscar nominee from Pakistan. Rotten Tomatoes puts it at a 100% rating.

Here are some of the reviews we have seen:

  • An easy-to-understand but difficult-to-accept story. Saim Sadiq’s directorial is bone-chilling, heartbreaking and above all, it’s easy on the eyes and hard on your nerves – Rafay Mehmood
  • Joyland is a poignant portrait of a splintered family –  Anupama Chopra, Film Companion
